A potassium alum stone

Instead of branded natural deodorant, restocked every few weeks

~$9 for roughly a year against ~$15 a stick

One mineral, no perfume, and the same effect on the bacteria that cause the smell.

IngredientsA list short enough to read aloud and defend.ValueThe same job for less money.

Sweat has no smell of its own. The smell comes from bacteria working on it, and a film of alum leaves the skin a poor place for them to do that. The formal evidence is thin and the chemistry is plain. One stone lasts about a year, which is where the money goes.

What you give up

Alum is an aluminium salt, so aluminium-free was never the claim here whatever the shelf implied. It is also not an antiperspirant. Nothing in it plugs a duct, and you will sweat exactly as much as before.

Some of these are Amazon affiliate links, and buying through one earns Yojo Dojo a small commission at no extra cost to you. Where a maker sells direct, the link goes there instead and usually pays less. Prices are rough, not live, and nothing on this page paid to be here.
